Urge Incontinence means having a sudden urgent need to pass urine, but not being able to reach the toilet in time. You may also need to pass urine more often than usual (known as 'frequency') and you may wake up several times during the night.
How It Occurs Urge incontinence is often caused by an overactive or 'unstable' bladder. Many people find that the bladder becomes more unpredictable, gives less warning and requires emptying more often as they get older. This is quite normal, until it becomes a problem or starts to cause incontinence.
Help This is the time to seek help. With the help of a specialist nurse, physiotherapist or GP you can retrain your bladder. There are also many products available to help manage bladder conditions.
